Parks & Recreation Volunteer Opportunities

Contact us to get involved by sharing your talents and skills with others; we can always use a helping hand. We have volunteer opportunities at special events, programs, planning for new activities, office tasks, and in the parks.

Youth Opportunities

The Leader-in-Training (LIT) program brings rising 9th - 12th graders into our summer youth programs as leaders, counselors and mentors. The application and selection process takes place December - February or March annually for the upcoming summer. Year-round opportunities may also be available for those interested in expanding their community service.

Event & Program Volunteers

With events ranging from therapeutic recreation socials to Taylor's family fun, there is always an event for you to help with. We have opportunities throughout the year where you can help prepare or come work events and programs. A majority of our volunteers are recruited through HandsOn Greater Richmond, whereas others come from local high schools, churches, businesses or colleges. Wherever you come from, you can make a difference in the Hanover community.

Park Beautification

With miles of trails, numerous parks, and acres of parkland, volunteers are invaluable to making and keeping our facilities pristine. If your or your organization has passion for the outdoors, please contact us to discuss park beautification or improvement opportunities.
